When the muscle is relaxed, so is the overlying skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and frown lines. It has been used over 15 years to treat a variety of different problems caused by overactive muscles and is FDA approved to treat the lines between the eyebrows. The results are visible within 3-10 days and are not permanent, but last up to 4 months. However, with continued treatment, the skin texture over the muscle also can remodel, continuing to improve the appearance of the wrinkle.
