No matter how much we each do to protect our face, it will show signs of aging. A facelift is a procedure that lifts the underlying tissue of the face, elevates and reshapes fat pads, and removes redundant skin, creating a more youthful look. At the Center for Aesthetic Medicine, we consider this procedure another option we can provide to our patients to keep them looking and feeling as young as possible.

Depending on the health of our patient, this procedure is either performed in our office or in the operating room and takes about 2 hours. A facelift will mainly rejuvenate the lower third of the face, so certain other procedures, such as Botox, injection of dermal fillers, fractionated laser therapy, or even an eye or neck lift can be performed at the same time to rejuvenate the rest of the face for a balanced look. All incisions are hidden and camouflaged in folds along the ears and hairline. We use careful techniques that are designed to prevent hair loss, scarring, or a ‘pulled’ look. Our goal is to make our patients look rested, relaxed, and youthful in a natural way, turning back the clock several years in the process.

When patients come in to see us for a consultation for a facelift, we sit down with them for a comprehensive consultation in order to evaluate their particular needs and desires. If a facelift is not the best option, we discuss the options that will benefit them the most. For any surgery or procedure to be successful, it is important that both the patient and the doctor understand each other and are very communicative about their expectations of each other. The ideal candidate for any facial surgery or procedure is a person who is in good health, does not smoke, avoids sun exposure, and is at a stable weight. In addition, he or she must understand that after the surgery, care of the skin must continue, as the aging process does not stop. The end result is a patient that looks as happy and young on the outside as she or he feels on the inside.

We welcome you to make an appointment with our esthetician and one of our facial plastic trained surgeons if you have questions about facial rejuvenation or feel you are a good candidate for a facelift.
